Key Text: 1 Samuel 28:5-14 King Saul was tormented by fear of the Philistine army and feeling abandoned by God, seeks out a medium in Endor. Despite having banned mediums in Israel, Saul disguises himself and asks the medium to summon the prophet Samuel's spirit for guidance. Samuel foretells Saul's impending doom, revealing that he and his sons will die in battle the next day. Saul's disobedience and reliance on forbidden practices show how far he had strayed from God, being haunted by past hurts and poor choices. 1. ENTER God's presence: Instead of seeking worldly solutions or relying on forbidden practices like Saul, we should seek refuge in God, our strength and shield. 2.UNMASK and admit you are hurt: Like Saul's fear and desperation, we must acknowledge our pain. 3. RELEASE your pain: Let go of hurt by trusting God with it instead of turning to harmful ways of coping. 4. RECEIVE God's blessing: Only through seeking God can true healing and blessing be found. The story is a reminder of the dangers of ignoring God’s guidance and turning to harmful alternatives in times of despair.
